Thank you, BTI postdocs! Celebrating National Postdoc Appreciation Week 2017

by | Sep 18, 2017

“Here at BTI, we have over 50 postdocs and research associates from more than a dozen countries working to advance BTI research. The talent and devotion that exists within this group provides the foundation for the exceptional work that has made the Boyce Thompson Institute a revered plant and life science institute.” ~ Eric Richards, BTI Professor and Vice President for Research

Postdoctoral scientists are, undeniably, an integral part of BTI’s globally-relevant research. Their day-to-day work yields innovations in science and technology that immediately impact issues as critical as human health, global food supply, and climate change. To recognize and thank postdoc researchers, BTI will join institutions around the globe in celebrating this year’s National Postdoc Appreciation Week (September 18th – 22nd, 2017).

Now in its eighth year, National Postdoc Appreciation Week (NPAW) is organized by the National Postdoctoral Association (NPA). Hundreds of events organized by research institutions, universities, and corporations in 31 states will celebrate the invaluable contributions made by postdoctoral scholars in various industries. The NPA has sponsored National Postdoc Appreciation Week to “recognize the significant contributions that postdoctoral scholars make to research and discovery. ” National Postdoc Appreciation Week was officially adopted by the United States House of Representatives in 2010.

BTI has selected several postdoctoral scientists to be featured as part of NPAW. Stay tuned for spotlights on our Facebook page throughout the week!
