Bob GranadosScience Bomb Podcast: Interview with Dr. Robert Granados

10 years ago, an HPV vaccine called Cervarix™ was released.

When given at a young age, this vaccine is nearly 100% effective in preventing cervical cancer.

An insect cell line BTI-TN5B1 (The High-Five™), developed at the Boyce Thompson Institute by Dr. Robert Granados (professor emeritus, Charles E. Palm scientist) while doing basic research on insects viruses, is now being used to produce Cervarix™ made by GlaxoSmithKline.

The vaccine is used in more than one hundred countries around the world.

Granados discusses the discovery in his lab that would eventually become a key component of Cervarix™ in a recent edition of BTI’s Science Bomb podcast.
