John is currently a student at Colby College in Maine. Working with mentors Luis Maas and Jenny Kimbal, John’s research was focused on using the genetic diversity of wild relatives of cultivated rice. During the summer John learned lab techniques including acrylamide gels, DNA extractions, PCR and plant care and maintenance.
