Nick is originally from Yonkers, New York and currently attends Lehman College of the City University of New York (CUNY). In the Van Wijk lab, Nick works with the post doc, Wojciech Majeran. His project focuses on analyzing the proteins within two distinct types of maize photosynthetic cells, bundle sheath and mesophyll. These cells contain dimorphic chloroplasts, which are responsible for different photosynthetic processes. Using protein analytical techniques, he hopes to isolate and purify the two types of chloroplasts, resolve the proteins, and analyze them using mass spectroscopy and bioinformatics.
