While her hometown is Dedham, MA, Meredith is currently going to school in Indiana at the University of Notre Dame. Meredith worked with graduate student Ling Bai in the Brutnell lab on the carotenoid project. More specifically, she spent the summer looking for new, stable pink scutellum 1 alleles caused by the Activator transposon in maize. This work could eventually help create lines of maize with higher carotenoid content in the kernels.
