Kyle currently attends the Rochester Institute of Technology in nearby Rochester, NY. In the Brutnell lab, Kyle worked with technician Phyllis Farmer randomly mutagenizing the chelatase I gene to identify semi-dominant phenotypes in tobacco. For this project, they infiltrated the tobacco leaves and looked for chlorophyll accumulation. He learned plant infiltrations and and gel extraction of electrophoresis bands.
