Characterizing global recombination rates in maize inbreds

During my internship, I worked under the supervision of graduate students Gagan Sidhu and Chris Kornak-Bozza as well as Dr. Powlowski to characterize the global recombination rates between a variety of maize inbreds. While in the lab, I learned and employed techniques such as chromosome spreading, fluorescence in situ hybridization and deconvolution microscopy.
