Peter is currently a senior at Dryden High School in Dryden, NY. He worked in the Pawlowski lab with his mentors Gagan Sidhu and Chris Bozza on sequencing one of the maize recombination genes. By examining sequences of SPO11 genes from 31 diverse maize inbred lines and compared the sequences for SNPs and IN/DELs (Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms and Insertions or Deletions). During his summer at the BTI, Peter learned DNA sequencing, PCR, and gel electrophoresis.
