Sharmila’s hometown is Palm Beach, FL and she is an undergrad here at Cornell. Sharmila splits her time between the Comstock lab, working with Paul King and the Brutnell lab, working with Judy Kolkman. Her project focuses on the physiological aspects of a maize wilted mutant. She observes leaf stomata density using stomata peels and performs DNA extractions for the genetic aspects of her project.

Sharmila enjoys beach activities, reading, traveling, and volunteering.
