Apply for an Internship
Applications for summer 2018 internships will open Mid-November.

Applicants follow these four steps
First–Complete Registration (IMPORTANT)
Create an account and login to the application system by clicking the Apply Now button at the bottom of this page. Please choose either the Undergraduate or High School application.
Create an applicant account AND complete the CONTACT INFORMATION section.
Be sure to use your current e-mail address as your username and choose a password you will remember.
Then, enter the name and e-mail address of both of your recommenders. Be sure to press the “Send E-mail” button to send your letter of recommendation request immediately.
NOTE: Sending the e-mail request immediately will help ensure your recommenders submit your letters before the application deadline, while allowing you to complete and submit the application at your own pace.
Once you complete and submit your application, a second e-mail request will be sent to your recommenders. You can login to your application account anytime to see the status of your letters.
Faculty and teachers are often the best recommenders, but anyone who can speak of your abilities and potential can submit a letter.
Second–Assemble Your Application Materials
Please have the following items ready before you begin your application:
Official or unofficial versions are both accepted. Upload a scanned version of your transcripts through the application form, or have an electronic copy of your official transcripts sent to the Outreach office.
Personal Statement Essay
(400 to 700 words). Describe your interest in the internship, what you hope to gain, and how the opportunity fits into your future academic and career plans. If you have any relevant research experience, please remember to include that as well.
The resume is optional for high school applicants.
Third–Research Participating Faculty and Intern Projects.
Visit the Faculty and Projects page. Utilize the available information to become familiar with the faculty and research areas of most interest to you. You will have the opportunity to select up to five projects of interest on the application form.
Fourth–Complete the Internship Application Form.
Once you submit your completed application, you will ONLY have the ability to update your contact and intern project preference information.
Important Note: Make sure you add email@example.com AND firstname.lastname@example.org to your e-mail contacts to ensure you receive all of our e-mail communication. If you do not receive a confirmation e-mail shortly after creating an applicant account and/or submitting your complete application, check your spam folder. Please remember to ask your recommenders to do the same.

Complete applications must be submitted online no later than midnight on Friday, February 2, 2018.
